4 Women we are crushing on in the Food World

The food world has been dominated by Men across the world. Chefs of all the big restaurants and food entrepreneurs are primarily men. We have also grown only watching chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor and Vikas Khanna on television. Very few women chef like Tarla Dalal had their own shows to inspire women to pursue making food as a career.

In the last 2 decades women have made a place for themselves in the food world and they are here to stay. Women have successfully made their mark in the food industry - be it as chefs, entrepreneurs owning multiple chain of restaurants, in the food influncer world and owning sucessful food businesses.

Here are 4 such women in the food world whom we are crushing hard on:

Lawyer by profession, Karishma quit her job to pursue her passion for food. She has a super successful instagram page where she posts her recipes and she also teaches other fellow foodies to cook delicious food. We absolutely love to recreate her recipes as they are easy to make, healthy and super delicious.

Gauri Devidayal

Gauri Devidayal a law graduate and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants pursued her career as a tax consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and Mumbai for 8 years. With no previous experience in hospitality, she started helping her husband in setting up The Table in Colaba when the bug of being in the restaurant business bit her. 11 years later, this runs several restaurants and delivery kitchens in the city including The Table, Iktara, Magazine St. Kitchen amongst others like a BOSS.

Chef Amrinder Sandhu

Chef Amninder is a celebrated name in the Indian food world, who shot to fame with her brainchild Arth and its contemporary-Indian menu in Mumbai. Chef Amninder Sandhu is known for cooking on fire and has been riding the gasless cooking wave since 2017.  Her menu takes inspiration from her family heirloom recipes, her comfort food and the food she ate when they went on family trips. She was the only Indian chef on Netflix's The Final Table and and she won The Chef of the Year at CNT’s Top Restaurant Awards 2019. In 2020 she launched her delivery brand, Iktara, along with the team behind The Table, before she moved on to start Ammu. Chef Sandhu envisions Ammu expanding to a micro-restaurant eventually, adding four more brands to her bank of food ventures.

 Divya Advani - Brownsalt Bakery 

Divya Advani, a self-taught baker is the founder and creator of Brownsalt Bakery, a place where the perfect balance strikes the perfect chord. It all began with baking for friends & family that moved on to become an artisanal business. Every day at Brownsalt is different just like its products. Each product is handmade with utmost care and the best ingredients.Divya believes that the driving force behind Brownsalt is in keeping it simple yet significant. Brownsalt is a creation of the art of baking into a full time profession.

These women and many others have made a place for themselves successfully in the food world and they are inspiring a whole new generation of women who are not afraid to make food as a full time career than pursuing it as a passion by cooking in their kitchens for their family.
